Biography

Brooklyn born, Chris Casino explores Hip-hop as a way to convey his life and the way he does business. His street sharpened entrepreneurship now fuels his career as a rapper, songwriter, and producer, earning him a reputation as one of the hardest working talents in the game. However, five years ago his life changed forever when his little girl was diagnosed with Sickle Cell Anemia. Street knowledgeable, Chris Casino initially knew next to nothing about the disease. He never imagined anything like that could happen to him. He can now quote specific data about the disease and he can speak precisely and with determination about a disease that has plagued his child, his family and many others. As a result, he’s dedicated his life to helping his daughter by setting up his own foundation in her name, The Zariah Sickle Cell Foundation. He says, “I now know what it’s like to spend the Christmas holidays in the hospital feeling helpless and worried about your baby, watching her all night being connected to an I.V. and struggling with pain and fever that would not break. This cause is extremely personal and dear to me and I will continue to work hard creating this platform to help realize my goals in order for them to come to life.”

Growing up in a single parent household, Casino inherited his work ethic early, taking on man-of-the-house sized responsibilities. He quickly developed an interest in Hip-Hop with the help of his older brother. At the age of 17, Casino was already certain music and writing were what he was destined to do. The eager and young Casino figured out how to combine his ability to hustle by selling his music after shows out of the trunk of his car; proving a profitable surge forging him to further delve into the business of creating music.

Performing in venues throughout New York, traveling to colleges across the tri-state and even performing at churches enabled him to survive and eventually thrive in the business, honing his craft while connecting with his audiences. He saw his fan base grow and started releasing solo projects. As he matured, so did his music and his reputation for knowing how to market it and sell it. Casino says, “Everything I was going through at the time was what I was writing about it.” As he began to release mix-tapes, he met new people and was able to increase his brand through hard work and great music.

Initially, Casino earned a living solely off selling his music directly to his fans. He was starting to attract known producers who were working in the mix-tape arena who were known for launching brilliant talents in the industry. DJ Snap ( Da Union DJ’s/ Power 105, NYC) was the initial push that helped launch Casino and his music to the next level. A major mix-tape compilation followed. Shortly after, Casino joined forces with producer Prestige Vanderpool (Bad Boy) whose roster of talent includes: Jay-Z, P Diddy, Biggie Smalls (Notorious), and many more.

An internationally respected Hip-Hop/ Pop artist, Casino performed in Vienna, Spain, Italy and beyond. This allowed him to experience a broader audience and a more popular music sound. He began mixing in at parties across the globe and began to develop new ideas.

As the industry delved deeper into technology, (iTunes, iHeartRadio, Spotify, XM Satellite, SoundCloud, and Pandora) Casino stuck to his direct to consumer approach. He was able to maintain an active digital presence. As CEO of his own company, Freezer Boy Entertainment, Casino stays busy with appearances including a recent live concert to a sold out crowd at Taj Lounge in NYC. He has appeared at The Griffin, VIP Manhattan Club, Kings Borough Community College and is set to perform several March 2016 shows for Spring Break at South Padre Island in Texas and also performing live at Darwin’s Pub during this year’s 2016 South by South West Conference in Austin Texas. He’s collaborated with various notable artists including: Foxy Brown, Trey Songz, Pimp Squad Click, Grand Hustle, M.O.P., Mack Bonnie, Big B’z, and many more.
His current single, "Hot Chick" is hitting radio outlets from New York’s Power 105.1 FM to Power 99, Philadelphia, as well as on Casino’s own iheart station. His debut EP ‘THE CREST’ is set for release in June. The first single, “See It in Your Eyes” is out now. Casino says, “I want people to feel high when they hear ‘See It in Your Eyes.’ I wrote this record feeling sexy and seductive. It’s the type of record that makes you want to travel out of your body. I hope it makes you feel like you’re part of the Miami nightlife. It’s like a Casino/ Vegas cocaine cowboy kind of song.”
Casino’s distinct blend of Hip Hop/ Pop is a serious launch into his next phase as an artist. As “Hot Chick” continues to burn through NYC airwaves, it will soon begin to catch fire everywhere else as he prepared to kick off his 11-city tour. As Casino readies to hit the road, his every thought harkens back to his daughter and her daily batter with Sickle Cell.
Today his life is full of hope for his daughter, Zariah. Through his passion and his strength, Casino has remained dedicated to his music and has found a vehicle to help bring awareness to the disease. His purpose at the end of every day, at the end of every studio session, after every show, before getting on the road, is simple. His Foundation is a real answer to help the many who have been stricken with this disease. The Zariah Foundation was set up in order to inform and educate the community in general; to help provide a vehicle for communication between health care professionals, social services and concerned parents. It shall support legislation at the local, state, and national levels and will aide sickle cell clients and sustain clinical research into SCD. Casino sums it up and adds, “At the end of every day, I will work tirelessly to fund clinical advances to help find a CURE for SCD.”
His debut EP is set for release June 2016 and will be supported by an East Coast tour.
